Top 6 Items to Disinfect on the Regular in Your Classroom

With students heading back to school this Fall in Massachusetts, many parents and teachers are worried about COVID, mask wearing, and who knows what else could come next. We have decided to compile a top 6 list of items that can be disinfected on the regular to help your students stay safe.

  1. Pencil sharpeners - (does your student’s class still have these?) If these are in your classroom, then it is important to make sure it is disinfected each day. With multiple people using it throughout each class, it can become a germ bed.
  2. Desks - while the student is sitting there, they can be coughing, sneezing, wiping their mouths with their hands, touching everything in sight, and even just breathing. The droplets of moisture that can float around and settle on the desks can cause problems not only for the transmission of COVID, but also common colds, the flu, and other air borne illnesses.
  3. Door handles - unless the door is kept open 100% of the time, someone is going to be touching it, correct? A great way to keep transmission of germs under control is to spray this on a daily basis, or in between classes.
  4. Bathroom door - whether students are coming or going from the bathroom, it is a high touch point for many. And whether or not they have washed their hands (another story all together), they are still touching their noses, mouths, walls, and so much more.
  5. Lunch boxes - as these are constantly touched by the kids, it is a breeding ground for germs. Keeping these disinfected both in the classroom and at home will help stop the spread of germs.
  6. Shared classroom supplies - while many will do their best to make sure kids have their own supplies, there is the inevitable of swapping among younger children, forgetting of supplies, things breaking, or not having a large enough budget for all items to be purchased individually. Keeping the items disinfected each day, or between each class can help alleviate the stress that some will have.

While this list is not exhaustive, it is a start to help keep everyone safe. And to take it a step further, schools can consider hiring a professional service to disinfect on the regular. With a 90 day guarantee, Millennium Shield can give peace of mind to parents, teachers, and administrators. A five step process can help alleviate worries and concerns for all involved when keeping their children safe.
